China to Develop 61 Standards for Lithium Batteries for Energy Storage

December 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on the "lithium-ion battery comprehensive standardization system construction guidelines (2023 version)" public draft for comment, the public 542 construction standards, involving 61 to be developed, the development of energy storage battery standards.

Lithium-ion battery comprehensive standardization technology system mainly includes basic general, materials and components, manufacturing and testing, battery products, recycling, green low-carbon 6 categories, 25 sub-categories.

The Opinion Draft makes it clear that the energy storage standards mainly regulate the requirements and test methods related to energy storage lithium-ion batteries for stationary electronic equipment, power storage and other energy storage.

According to the "Opinion Draft", 61 energy storage battery standards to be constructed covers distributed energy storage with lithium-ion batteries, centralized charging station energy storage with lithium-ion batteries, lithium-ion batteries for rail transport energy storage, high power lithium-ion batteries for power storage, lithium-ion batteries for energy storage safety and many other aspects.

Among them, there are nine national standards for lithium batteries for energy storage to be formulated, including: terminology for lithium-ion batteries for power energy storage, technical specifications for lithium-ion battery management systems for electrochemical energy storage power stations, specifications for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for electrical energy storage systems, and safety evaluation of lithium-ion batteries for energy storage.

The 62 industry standards to be developed include: decommissioning transport requirements for lithium-ion batteries for power storage, performance specifications for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for distributed energy storage, general specifications for lithium-ion battery management systems for distributed energy storage, general specifications for the performance requirements of lithium-ion batteries for centralized charging stations, general specifications for the service life requirements of lithium-ion batteries for centralized charging station storage, general specifications for the lithium-ion battery management system for centralized charging stations, general specifications for the lithium-ion battery power control system for centralized charging station storage, etc.
