According to official news from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a research team composed of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Tsinghua University has developed a multifunctional organic molecule—Hydantoin, and used it to prepare perovskite solar cells with a photovoltaic conversion efficiency exceeding 25.66% (certified as 25.15%). These solar cells exhibit excellent environmental stability.

 

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are promising in the field of next-generation photovoltaic power generation due to their excellent optoelectronic properties. They are currently a key focus of research in the photovoltaic industry and have achieved a photovoltaic conversion efficiency of over 26%. However, the crystallization process of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites is complex. The involvement of intermediate phases, such as the mixed solvent phase and the δ phase, makes it challenging to prepare perovskite films that are uniform and highly crystalline. Issues such as lattice distortion can affect performance and lifespan.
