EU to implement Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

The European Union has officially adopted the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). This legislation provides a framework for member states to reduce emissions and energy consumption in buildings. Following a revised directive endorsed by the European Council and the European Commission, it will soon be published in the Official Journal of the Union and take effect shortly thereafter. Member states will then need to incorporate it into their national laws.

The directive also requires EU member states to gradually phase out the use of fossil fuels for heating in buildings and increase the installation of solar power systems, considering their individual circumstances. According to a statement from the European Commission, member states must ensure that all new buildings meet the requirements of the EU Solar Standard, as ratified by the European Parliament in March.

The directive aims to help citizens improve their homes. The EPBD mandates the establishment of centralized advisory services for building renovations and regulatory provisions. It also calls for the implementation of both public and private funding to make renovation projects more affordable and feasible.

We continue to provide innovative solar energy solutions, contributing to the realization of cleaner and more sustainable environments.
