Recent studies have shown that artificial ground reflectors installed under double-sided PV panels can significantly increase power generation efficiency by 4.5%.
The technology uses a highly reflective and UV-resistant material made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a solar-weighted reflectivity of up to 70%. Research highlights that reflector location is critical to effectiveness, with a central location directly below the torque tube being optimal. Solar radiation levels are a key factor in this benefit, and the effects of inverter clipping need to be guarded against.
It is particularly worth noting that in cloudy areas, the power gain brought by this technology can reach 6.0%, far exceeding the 2.6% in arid areas.
