Malaysia has announced a new initiative to encourage residential solar installations.
The National Solar Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS) will provide rebates ranging from 1,000 RM to 4,000 RM per kilowatt for new net metering users. Rebates will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible for the rebate, applicants must ensure that their solar systems are operational by March 31, 2025, and that the government's rebate quota has not been exhausted. Applications start on April 1 and will run until the end of this year. The rebate program is managed by the state-owned utility company, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB). Applicants must be both residential customers of TNB and Malaysian citizens to qualify for the rebate.
