An innovative cadmium doping method has successfully increased the PV conversion efficiency of chalcogenide solar cells to 22.7 per cent, a breakthrough that opens up new possibilities for the commercialisation of chalcogenide solar cells. By precisely controlling the doping ratio of cadmium, the research team optimised the photoluminescence intensity of the chalcogenide film, while enhancing the charge accumulation and photovoltage. Experimental results also showed that cadmium doping significantly improved the operational stability of the solar cells. The research was supported by several research funding agencies, and the results are expected to drive the further development of solar cell technology.
